Grocery Shopping Money Saving Tips

Summer is soon approaching and we all want to get out there and enjoy it. Unfortunately, most things come with a price tag from going to theme parks to taking a trip. I have come up with some ways to save you some cash on your grocery bill so that you have extra funds to do the activities that you want to do not only this summer, but all year round.

1. Wash Hair Every Other Day: I used to wash my hair every single day. Not only is it drying to the hair, but it can get costly. By washing your hair every other day you save 50% on shampoo a year!

2. Learn Store Coupon Policy: You can save a lot just by familiarizing yourself with the coupon policy of your local store. Many stores double and sometimes triple the face value of coupons. Publix in particular will double the face value of any coupon up to $0.50 everyday. Other stores have price matching which, will match a competitors price on products.

3. Chicken Thighs vs Chicken Breast: When purchasing meat it is easy to stick to the basics. However, popular cuts of meat like chicken breast can come with higher costs. By opting for less popular cuts of meat like chicken thighs you will see a decrease in the price tag. This is also true for beef and pork.

4. Vegetarian Night: The bulk of my grocery spending goes to meat. Save on meat by making one night a week vegetarian night. Use other less expensive foods as the source of protein for that meal, such as beans

5. Make A List (And Check It Twice!): Making a list before going grocery shopping will help you stick to your budget and will prevent impulse purchases. Take a look at the store circular before your shopping trip and plan accordingly. The important part is to stick to the list and only buy what you intended on buying.

These are some tips that will help you save some money on your next grocery shopping trip.

Fashion Trends Spring/Summer 2014

So, I was doing some online window shopping, as I often do, and looking at the clothes got me thinking about the new trends coming out for the Spring/Summer 2014 seasons. I really love some of the trends that I saw. I thought I would share with you 5 of my favorite trends of the season and how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe.

Cat Eye Sunglasses Jimmy Choo Black Fashion Accessory Spring SummerCat Eye Sunglasses: I love me a great pair of large shades! It is the ultimate fabulous accessory. The cat eye look of the season is super fashion forward which, means it could be intimidating for some ladies to try. My suggestion is to try it! Go to an eyeglass shop and try glasses on; You may be surprised at how flattering this shape is. They range from drastic to subtle however, not all cat eye shades are right for all faces; That is why it is important to try them on. I like the cat eye style because it draws the face up (just like getting eyebrows perfectly done) and because of that can make you look younger.

Crop Top: All the celebrities are wearing this trend. With this trend I took a page out of Kim Kardashian’s fashion book. I love the look of cropped tops with a high waisted skirt. I find this look to be very flattering on most body types especially for those, like myself, that do not feel comfortable baring the midriff. I got myself a basic white short sleeve crop top to pair with a floral pencil skirt (that I got on sale wohoo!). You can also pair it with a full short skirt or a maxi skirt.

Floral Skirt Purple Water Color Flowers Pattern Fashion Accessory Spring SummerFloral: This trend is really a classic basic. Florals are in style even when they are not in style. Depending on your size you may want to choose between a large floral pattern or a smaller floral pattern to flatter you best. If you are a larger girl opt for larger prints and if you are on the petite side opt for a smaller print. I decided to get a high waisted pencil skirt (to wear with my cropped top!) that can go from the warmer months into the colder months. The beauty of floral patterns is that there are many varieties from feminine to more abstract. Experimenting with patterns of any kind is also a great way to incorporate color into your wardrobe.

Button Down Shirt: Typically button down shirts are considered only for professional settings. The new styles, colors and patterns make button down shirts more accessible for everyday wear. I like to wear mine with the sleeves rolled up and paired with a camisole. Sometimes I open a few buttons to expose my camisole, leave it fully open or tie it at the waist.

Coach Metallic Clutch Accessory Fashion PurseMetallic: This is also a trend that pretty much lives all year round. This season it is out in full force from tops to shoes to bottoms. Personally a metallic top may be to loud for my taste, but I love the metallic trend in my accessories. I have a great clutch that I have actually had for a while but, only used as an evening bag. Many ladies already own metallics and most often use them during the evening, now is the time to wear your metallics during the day.

Experimenting with fashion is fun and we all want to be up on the latest trends, The key is to find how the trend works for your personality, your body type and life style. This Spring/Summer 2014 season has a lot of wearable trends for women. Try them out ladies! As always when shopping online use Ebates to earn cash back on purchases. Have fun shopping!

Cash Back Website Review Ebates Photo Cash Back Website Green Review Scam Online Shopping
On the top of my wish list would be getting paid to shop and eat amongst other things. Oh, how I love to shop, I digress. Lucky for me one of my wishes was granted. I came across months ago and have been using it ever since. Ebates is a site that gives shoppers cash back for making online purchases (sounds good to me!). They also have coupon codes that can be used online. Most importantly it is 100% free to join and there are never any fees.

How does it work?
Browse categories to find eligible websites or search for specific stores. Once you find the site you want to purchase from click on the “shop now” link. You will be directed to that website and a tracking ticket will be created. You will then earn cash back on your purchase. Payments are sent out on a quarterly schedule and are paid via PayPal or check. Read more here.

Why do they do this? is affiliated with over 1,700 online stores including Macy's, JCPenney, Target, Amazon, Best Buy, Priceline and Walmart. They get a commission from these stores when customers make purchases. Read more here.

I have had a positive experience shopping through the cash back site. The best part for me is that I am earning cash back and saving money on things I have to buy anyway. Often times payments are sent out weeks earlier than expected. Most of my shopping is done online which, really helps me rack in the cash back. It is really easy for anyone to do. So, head on over to and say, "show me the money!"

Week Before Wedding Day To Do List

You have found Mr. Right and said “yes,” now you are on your way to say “I do”. It is a week before the big day and by this point you have secured your venue, your dress, invites have been sent and the list goes on (and on and on and on). Now the true countdown to your wedding day begins. Here is a list of five things that I did the week leading up to my wedding day.

1. Make a list of all vendors and give one to your mother, fiancé and anyone who you trust enough to carry out responsibility. You are the bride and the super star of the day. You should not have to deal with anything the day of your wedding. You have done enough! If anything were to go awry (which it will not because you are a good person and this will be the most perfect wedding in the world, but if it does) someone other than you can handle it.

2. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day the whole week leading up to the special day. I know we should be doing this one already, but lets face it some of us do not. Your skin will be glowing and you will look even more beautiful than you already are.

3. Pamper yourself. Get your nails done, eye lash extensions, go to the spa… (Or have an at home spa day! Click here for supplies) This is the fun girly stuff that we wish we could do more often. Take a seat, relax and let strangers rub all over you.

4. Gather the items that you will use for the time old tradition of, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. It is simply a fun thing to do! It is also a great way to memorialize someone special who has passed away that you wish to have with you on your special day. You could wear your grandmother’s old necklace or sew the name of your father in blue thread inside your dress (or create a patch and sew that on the underside of your dress). The possibilities are endless.

5. Lastly, start packing everything that you will need for the big day, underwear, an extra invite (so the photographer can take a picture of it), makeup, robe etc. Do not leave it all for the night before the wedding. This will give you more time for your beauty sleep.

Bonus Tip: On the day of the wedding assign someone the responsibility of carrying pressed powder, a small mirror, lipstick/gloss and extra bobby pins for you (put it all in a cute pouch, get them here). This way you will be able to do quick touch ups through out the day, especially for photographs.

There you have my list of 5 things to do leading up to your wedding day. Enjoy the big day and congrats!

Mueller's Pasta, Only $0.15 at Publix

Mueller's Pasta Elbows Bowties Boxes Kitchen Food Cabinet Cupboard Deals Coupons Publix Save
I have been praying to the "Coupon Gods" and my prayers have finally been answered. As an aspiring "Coupon Mom," I have tirelessly been looking for deals and coupons online. This week my hard work paid off. I got the best deal on Mueller’s pasta from Publix at $0.15 a box. Yes, ZERO dollars and fifteen cents! Here is how I did it, Publix had a buy one get one free deal this week* on Mueller’s pasta. At checkout I paired the sale with a $0.55 off coupon that I got by signing up at That was it! This is the kind of deal you shout from the rooftops.

Looking at the weekly ad of your local store before you shop can help you save big just like I did. I would also recommend making a list of the brands that you purchase from often and sign up for their newsletters or make accounts on their official sites (for free) to gain access to exclusive coupons.

One day I hope to be an extreme "Coupon Mom," load my cart with groceries and spend only $3.00 (A girl can dream!). At this point I'm in the minor leagues of couponing. Until that day I will celebrate the small victories. Mueller’s pasta at $0.15 a box is a great start. Spaghetti anyone?

Almond Butter vs. Peanut Butter

MaraNatha All Natural No Stir Almond Butter Crunchy Food Glass Jar Nut Healthy Snack
Creamy, smooth, delicious…and don’t forget healthy. I recently discovered almond butter. I had seen it in the grocery store, but due to the price tag never gave it a second look. I tried freshly ground almond butter from Whole Foods and my taste buds were blown away. It was absolutely delicious and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was good for me too.

I like to eat almond butter by the spoonful; It is really filling and holds me over in between meals. My ultimate favorite way to eat is to spread on apples. The sweetness and freshness of the apple paired with the creaminess and richness of the almond butter is a great combo. It has become one of my favorite snacks.

Ways to enjoy almond butter:
  • With fresh fruits (i.e. apples, bananas)
  • With fresh vegetables (i.e. celery)
  • Spread on crackers
  • In smoothies or shakes
  • Put a dollop on oatmeal
  • Spread on Toast
  • Almond Butter & Jelly (AB& J) sandwiches
  • By the spoonful

How does almond butter fair against peanut butter? Well, I’ll tell you! While peanut butter is smoother in consistency, almond butter is thicker and richer in taste. Granted, the former is a more cost effective option the latter wins in nutritional value.

Almond butter vs. peanut butter:
  • Almond butter is a better source of good fats (monounsaturated fat)*
  • Both contain zero cholesterol*
  • Peanut butter has higher sodium and sugar*
  • Almond butter is a better source of iron and magnesium*
  • Almond butter is a good source of calcium*
  • Both are a good source of protein*
  • Almond butter is an excellent source of vitamin e*

Almond butter may be less economical, but for me the nutritional benefits are worth the extra bucks.
